I've been using my 400D to take photos of the aurora.  Before going outside, I take a few test shots through the window to see if the aurora is currently visible.  I had the problem that the reflection of  stray light in my triple glazing from the camera's green LED and the LCD screen, fogged the photo. When using a electronic cable release, the screen comes on to show elapsed seconds and can't be turned off without lowering the screen brightness. A hassle if you then want to view the photo you just took. I covered the LED with some Blu-tack (a reusable putty-like pressure-sensitive non permanent adhesive) , but needed a way to block the screen.  So designed this cover.

The model consist of a bracket that slides onto the view finder and a cover that hinges down over the screen. To protect the screen, I used a piece of 7mm thick packaging foam I had lying around which I glued to the inside of the cover.  To keep the cover tight on the screen I used an elastic band hooked around the tripod arm and the bottom of the screw that holds the camera on, then looped it of the hook at the bottom of the cover.

I printed both parts in PET-G  0.2 quality setting with variable layer height adaptive 0.5 quality/speed selected and supports enabled. I have included a template for cutting the foam insert.

Edit 15/10/2024:  An improved version of the ViewfinderBracket uploaded. The bracket now  slides on and clips onto the camera viewfinder.
