After acquiring a Bambu Lab P1S with an AMS, I suddenly found my collection of tiny quarter kilo spools to be sad and useless.
I quickly discovered printable spools for refills, and then various respooling tools, but that felt like more effort than I wanted to give for all of these. Why can't I just have an adapter for all my existing tiny spools?
I took to Reddit, which led me to this neat little contraption:
https://makerworld.com/en/models/200414
which seemed promising
And while it worked as advertised, the spool itself was too narrow to fit over the AMS' feeder mechanism.
So back to the drawing board; I took two prints that I had already used successfully (see remix sources), and figured, why not both. So I just merged the two items together to have an appropriately sized and spaced spool gap, with a simple but reliable gripping mechanism.
which proved satisfactory.
The author remixed this model.
A merger of the two source models. One of them has a good gripping system for small spools; the other has appropriately sized edges with the convenience holes for holding the filament's end.
