We made the mistake of keeping the arm held high on our 12-foot Home Depot Skeleton, and over the months, it began to tear away from the shoulder mount. We quickly designed and printed an inner and outer reinforcement plate.
- Recommend purchasing longer screws - we went with Home Depot #6 7/8" screws
- We doubled up the outer reinforcement plate but don't recommend this as the arm will both stick out more from the torso and potentially place more stress on the joint
- You won't be able to install the inner reinforcement plate unless you have the same damage as our Skelly or cut the plastic on the shoulder to allow installation. Due to the numerous tears in the plastic, we could slowly rotate the inner mount into the shoulder/upper arm.
Our installation process
- Installed the inner plate and applied epoxy glue with a finger to the inner shoulder where the plate edge meets the shoulder body,
- Applied pressure using small clamps and removed them after several minutes
- Screwed together the shoulder with the new inner plate, the new outer plate(s), and the original mount
