I’m excited to announce that version 2.0 is here! Thank you so much for downloading the original—I truly appreciate seeing my designs getting printed!

Feel free to contact me for any special requests, such as customized compartment layouts, or if you encounter any issues with your print.

Introduction:

This tackle box, measuring 145mm (L) x 100mm (W) x 42mm (H), is designed to hold the essentials for setting up dropper fly rigs for sea trout fishing on the coast. The top compartment organizes various flies, while the bottom has 4 long slots for the 12,5cm/19g version of my favorite sea trout lures, 5 differently sized compartments for hooks, and 7 smaller compartments for commonly used tackle like swivels, rings, beads, and. The box helps keep everything fairly dry, in good condition, and easy to find.

For the fly compartment, use hot glue to attach a piece of EVA foam. This foam allows flies to be securely held in place, with the hooks embedded in the foam, preventing damage and keeping everything organized. I recommend using 5-8 mm thick foam.
You can purchase EVA foam here (amazon.de) or here (amazon.com). **Not affiliated!**

I’ve also added EVA foam under the 4 lure slots to reduce rattling and make them easier to grab.

Make your own design:

If you prefer to create your own compartment design, I’ve made a .STEP file without separators and logo, available for download as well.
Follow this quick 3-step guide in your favorite CAD software:

Printing instructions:

The design is optized for FDM printing.

I am using a Prusa MK4 printer and Prusa PETG filament. PLA is not recommended in this case, as the print-in-place hinges are designed for the strength of PETG. It is also advised to print in an enclosure to avoid warping - but it is not directly necesarry.

I use the following settings:

  • Filament: Prusa PETG
  • Nozzle temp: 240°
  • Bed temp: 90°
  • Nozzle: 0.4 mm
  • Layer: 0.20 mm (Quality)
  • Infill: 15% Grid
  • Support: For support enforcers only (Pre sliced and supported .3mf available)
  • No brim

Happy printing and happy fishing :)
