***Edit***
I've added a new base, that captures the nut. -much easier to work with. -don't need to superglue the nut to the base.
also I find scuffing the bottom with a little sandpaper makes the tape stick way better.
added more pics!!!
Enjoy!
I used these magnetic metal plates from eBay. The circle is 40mm
some [up to] 4mm thick neodymium magnets (put in as many as you can.)
also epoxy I recommend: JB Weld PlasticBonder
and Gorilla double sided mounting tape.
2x 10-24 nuts
2x 10-24 thumb screws (one ¾" and one ½" in length) [see image]
2x washer (optional)
Glue P2 to P3
Bolt P1 to P2
insert P3 into base and secure with screw
insert 1x nut into base-v2
add loctite blu if your screws are not staying in.
Insert into P1 as many 4mm Neodymium magnets as you can.
then Apply epoxy and stick the metal circle on there. be careful… the magnets will pull it, so be warned. (or stick the magnets to the steel plate before gluing… however you find it easiest.)
Then add the double sided tape to the bottom of the mount, trim, and stick to your vehicles dash.
Hope that helps :D
*******Note:
I would advise printing in something that can withstand the heat of being on a dash…
I printed mine in PLA and it has sagged a little… I think I'll print in ASA next time.
