Prototype: Orbiter V2 Filament Cutter

This is the prototype of the improved version of the Orbiter Filament cutter, which is based on the Sherpamini cutter. I reduced the play in the mechanism and designed a better support for the lever.

I tested the function of the cutter by hand with different filaments such as PLA, PETG and ABS.

The cutter can be easily mounted between the hotend and the Orbiter V2. I simply used a spring from a ballpoint pen as a spring for the mechanism.

I uploaded the STEP file of the original assembly and also my two files “Base_v1.step” and
“Cover_v2.step”.

Update 01/2025
I made the cover 0,3mm thinner for smother movement.
The old version pressed to much in the blade.
