Worlds Greatest Fruit Fly Trap

I have been trapping fruit flies for years. I finally designed a perfect fruit fly trap that can be easily 3D printed and inserted into a standard American wide mouth canning jar. (for my friends in other countries, or if you don't have a standard wide mouth canning jar, measure the inside top opening of your jar. The wide mouth model is designed at 2.98inch/75.69mm diameter. the pickle jar model is 2.32in/58.93mm. Do the math to scale the model for your jar.)

All you have to do is print this model, find a regular wide mouth canning jar, bait the trap by leaving several gooey, bruised, or mushy pieces of fruit in the jar, then insert the print into the top of the jar. you can use the lid ring to secure it on if desired.

Now all you do is leave the jar in the area that is affected by fruit flies and wait for a day or two.  it is more effective if you remove all other fruit especially any that is rotten.

once the trap is full of fruit flies place it in the freezer for several hours to exterminate the little devils.
