I printed a couple of 3DPmom's Rockets for my girls and was truly inspired by them. They were so simple and fun to fidget with! But I wanted something a little more realistic, so I studied her design and built this minimalistic version of SpaceX's Starship. To display it I came up with this swooping design harking back to some retro-futuristic sci-fi idea in my head. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.
Tips for Printing
- Use tree supports on the rocket body
- Don't use supports on the stand or exhaust flame insert
- Make sure the exhaust flame insert sticks well to the plate. I used brims
- Print all the parts separately and then push the exhaust flame insert into place. The exhaust flame insert is designed to fit tightly inside of the rocket body and will require some effort to get it into place.
- For infill, I've been enjoying the speed and cost benefits of Adaptive Cubic at 10%
- 0.2mm layer height works just fine
- Tested with PLA and PETG
