A parametric version of a decora/leviton style screwless face plate for light switches.   Can be configured for 1 to 6 gangs in width.

Each cover is made in 2 pieces.  A base plate that is screwed into the switches which provides both alignment and stability for the cover; and a face plate that slides over the base with a hook at the top and a couple of fins used to provide a friction fit.  It does not use clips as those can be kind of a pain to print in a reliable way.

You'll need 6-32 screws at least ¼" in length to screw the base plate into the switches.

The plates in the pictures were slightly customized before I printed them to embed icons into them.  I'd have included those, except the licensing for the icons doesn't allow it, so that'll be up to you if you wanted to go that way. (but since you have the original F3D drawing, you could do it too.)

Tested printing 1, 2, and 3 gang plates using Bambu Labs PLA Basic Jade White.  (the grey was Overture PLA).

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

Using both the original and Leviton as the base, this remix has a few key differences:

  • The base model is parametric using Fusion 360.  Can configure up to 6-gang widths (though you'll need a pretty big printer base to go past 4).
  • The face plate in this version will cover the entire base inn this version, so there is no seem between the face and the base.
  • The face plate uses a lip and friction fit instead of snapping in.
