Assembly

  1. Make sure you have printed everything. Plate 5 “back-leg-top-(print 3x)” should surprisingly be printed 3 times.
    You should now have: 6x back-leg-top, -middle & -bottom; 2x front-leg-top, -middle & -bottom; 2x small & 2x large eyes; 1x spider-head; 1x bucket; atleast 16x sticks.
  2. Remove the supports of every part (except the spider head). Make sure to keep front- and back-legs seperate.
You can distingiush them by their assembly marking. Front legs have a triangle shaped marking and back legs a half circle.
I recommend using a wire cutter, a deburring tool and/or a utility knife.
  3. Remove the teeth supports of the spider head. Be careful not to use too much force. I recommend cutting the supports in half to minimise the chances of breaking.
  4. To remove the patch of supports on the bottom: Heat up your print bed to 70°C and place the spider head on it for ~30s.
Then remove as much material as possible until it cools back down.
Repeat until all supports are removed. This took me roughly 5 cycles.
  5. You should now have removed all supports.
  6. Use a bit of force to push the eyes into their sockets.
The smaller eyes are slightly different for left & right and are marked on their back with an “L” or an “R”.
  7. For the next part you will need glue. Arrange the front legs on your desk, including 4 sticks. One for each connection.
Add glue to the bottom leg part on its connecting side. Try to get glue into the stick opening.
Insert a stick into the opening with its flat side oriented to the triangle marking.
Add glue on top of the stick and push the middle leg part, with its triangle marking matching the bottom leg marking, onto the stick.
Hold together for ~15s or as long as your glue requires.
Repeat for the top leg part and for the other front leg.
  8. Repeat the same steps for all 6 back legs (→ 12 sticks).
  9. Let the glue dry for atleast a few hours, or as long as your glue needs.
  10. ~ waiting ~
  11. Now its time to glue the legs into the spider head.
Place the spider head onto its top.
I recommend first glueing the front legs and then the back legs.
Add glue to all 5 sides of the rectangular connection of the front leg and insert into on of the two front holes. Hold for ~15s or as long as your glue requires.
  12. Glue the remainding 6 back legs into the head.
  13. Let the glue dry.
  14. Enjoy your scary pumpkin spider candy bowl! :)

I hope you will have fun with this silly model and please post pictures of your print! This really motivates me to continue creating! :)

I am planning to model a stand to mitigate a bit of wobble. Follow me if you want to get a notification when it releases!
