I found the Ultimate Propeller Launcher and got it up and running, but found the propeller underwhelming. There is an option from someone else for a toroidal prop, but there is only one option. I've always wondered about the diminishing returns on blade number and size, so I have a made a ton of sizes to test our what might be these best option.
I've got various sizes at
100, 140, 180, 220, and 240 mm width
as well as different blade counts for each, at
2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, and 20 blades for each size.
The blade is 1.2mm thick, so it can be printed at 0.4mm with 3 passes, or 0.6mm with 2 passes.
If you do any comparisons, please let us know what you find flies the best!
Please do note that I have not tried all of these combinations and don't know which will or will not work well. I've done some of the 140mm 3 and 4 blades and they work well. I just printed a 220mm 6 blade and couldn't get up enough momentum to get any height.
I'll list below ones I've tested that didn't perform well:
100mm 10, 12, 16 Blades just barely enough power to get off of the base
I want to always keep my designs free for anyone who wants to use them, but this does take time and effort. So if my designs are worth something to you, please feel free to buy me a beer
The author remixed this model.
I modified the propeller Maker to include the shape needed for the adaptor to the Ultimate Propelle, as well as added a cone and some modifications to the parameterization to allow 2 blade options. I used the propeller from the ultimate propeller launcher to make the connection work as the original.
