I printed the version in the pictures at about a 50% scale of what was provided in the .stl files, mainly to get it printed quickly for the contest.
I printed the black section at 30% gyroid infill with 3 perimeters and at 0.3mm layers. I used organic supports that touched the belly of the main body everywhere.
I printed the white sections at 80% gyroid infill with 2 perimeters and at 0.2mm layers. I used grid supports everywhere for the fine details to be preserved.
I used a hot gun to help the pieces bond together better with the smaller sized model I printed. Let the plastic become slightly elastic and then firmly push it into place where needed and wait while it cools.
I added a looser-fit eye and belly insert if it's desired to not have the pieces lock together (9/26/2024). I believe that best results will come from PLA+ or PETG.
