.470 NE 50 rounds box

Addressed an issue with the lid hinge not generating properly, check again the .stl files if you downloaded previous to this date, now the assembly is gonna be definitely sturdier!

This is a storage box to contain 50 loaded cartridges of .470 Nitro Express. 

It comes with an hinged lid, and is designed to take the least amount of reasonable space.

The hole for each round is large enough to accomodate the cartridge primer down; this is done in order to:

1. prevent deformation to soft point loaded rounds during transportation hits

2. quickly identify which cartridges are loaded with soft points and which are loaded with solids or other bullets in between

3. Since the .470 Nitro Express use parent case from .500 Nitro Express and it's one of the highest OAL big game hunting cartridge around, this box could be used to store most big bore safari cartridge.

I haven't had the opportunity to print one yet due to accumulated backlog. I may be updating this project with printed samples in the next future or maybe YOU will contribute to the community with the first make ever! 🙂

Once printed, use a couple of M screws and nuts or some slightly wider nails in order to joint the lid to the box.

How I Designed This

Onshape

This ammo box is mostly due to a public design available on Onshape for 7 mm Remington cartridges; I made some minor changes in design and dimensions in order to fit my needs.
