VODA | Scalable Watering Can

Need a big watering can? Or a tiny one? Scale it at will and 3D print it! Perfect for urban gardeners, plant enthusiasts, and anyone with a green thumb.

I designed it with the following in mind:

  • To be fully scalable. Meaning the 3D model is full (no hole, no thin walls) so you can scale it in your slicer and THEN define how thick you want the walls to be (see print settings).
  • With a safe and unique grip you can grasp with your entire hand, no traditional thin handle.
  • The top and pouring spout are open so you don't have to wonder "when" the water is going to pour out
  • Each layer is just one continuous curve for fast printing. No holes and gaps and bridges that would create stringing and slow down the print.

The capacity is of 0.6L in the "original size".
But it's fully scalable to any size you want.

You can scale it:

  • Uniformly (same scale in all directions)
  • Or just scale the width, larger or smaller, to adjust the grip to the size of your hand.
  • Or just make it extra tall without changing the width, if you need more capacity without making the handle larger, too big.

DIMENSIONS | W 65mm x L 180mm x H 180 mm

3D PRINT SETTINGS

For a watertight result, make sure your printer is well calibrated and lubricated.

Set the resolution (layer height) to 0.2mm / layer
(or more. Watering cans on pictures were printed with 0.3mm / layer)

Then, increase the wall line count to at least 4.

The model is "full" so you need to cancel the infill and top layers.
So set the infill to 0%
And set the top layers to 0 to cancel the top faces.

And to make the bottom watertight, the bottom thickness needs to be at least 2 to 2.4mm
So set enough layers to reach that thickness (in Cura), or set the bottom thickness to 2.4mm (in Bambu Studio).

In Bambu Studio, you also need to **uncheck "Ensure vertical shell thickness", otherwise you'll end up with patches of extra thickness here and there inside the can.

And no need for supports or brim, so:
Build adhesion type: None
Supports: None
