Installs into the secondary display port, just above the built-in network and USB ports.

Requires:

  • 4x M3x4x5 heat-set inserts
  • 2x M3x8mm countersunk screws
  • Also uses 2 screws removed from the original metal bracket

Potentially worth printing in PETG, but the area of the case it is in shouldn't get too excessively warm so PLA should also be fine.

Few notes:

  • Printed both parts with the “notch” facing up. There is a small overhang on the external bracket, which prints perfectly without support.
  • Printed on Prusa Mk4 at 0.2mm layer height, speed preset, 15% infill, on satin PEI sheet.
  • The outside cover is very close to interfering with the network cable clip on the built-in Ethernet socket, so it might be worth tweaking the case (either trimming some material on the “bottom right” of the bracket, or reducing the overall thickness). However I checked with three different cable designs and they are all clear.
  • Probably worth with other similar Optiplex Micro versions, and maybe other ethernet sockets - but I have not tried. The bracket relies on there being space between the RJ45 socket and the ribbon connector, not sure how common this is, but would be easy to tweak to remove the backing part of the bracket, which might make it more universal.
