I made this ball to be a decorative lamp. Turned out to be quite nice. The pattern is not like an card stack diamond. It is actually a polygon with 6 edges. Can you see it?

Part is designed and rendered with Fusion 360 and sliced with Simplify3D

Rafts:

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0,2

Infill:

10%

Notes:

The walls are not steep so no supports are needed. I printed mine in Octofiber PETG, which is a bit translucent.

The model consists of two parts: the ball and the top diamnod. The diamond will fit in the ball with a little bit of force.

Post-Printing

Assembly

  1. Drop the diamond inside the ball
  2. Shake the ball so that the tip of the diamond comes out of the hole
  3. Use something long to poke the diamond through the hole (I used a long ruler)
  4. Install lamp and enjoy!
