Clothes rack with 20x20 profiles

Super strong clothes rack with 20x20 profiles =)

I used 2 similar extendable clothes rack similar like this one (but not exact this one!) before. Within 2 years both broke, because they both simply bend off the wall after about 1.5 and 2 years, with a small amount of clothes on them that was stored on it to get washed later… Because of the relatively high price of about 80€ I paid for the ones I used and is not available anymore (you may get an idea why…) I did not want to buy again such a model which may fail again… I want something I will know that will last… 

According to the golden rule: “Buy good tools, which you will buy 1x only”…

Because I could not find such a clothes rack - which did not cost more than 300-400€ each (WTF?!?) I decided to use some old project parts which we all know that will last a long time: “aluminium profiles and their trusty accessories”…

Because such an aluminum profile has some relatively sharp edges, I wanted to hide these from the clothes that should be stored on it. So this is why you can find the printed parts here. These few, fast and easy to print parts can hide the sharp edges and will act as small protectors. =)

You can find all parts I used below, but you are of course free to use longer pipes or aluminum profiles. =)

Parts needed:

• 4x 300mm aluminum profile
• 2x 500mm aluminum profile
• 5x 1000mm long aluminum pipe with Ø20mm x 2mm
• 2x 90° aluminum profile angles
• 2x 45° aluminum profile angles 
• 2x 135° aluminum profile angles 
• Some usual screws and profile nuts for 20x20 aluminum profiles (incl. in the articles above)

Notes:

• You can extend this rack if you like. Adding additional holders might be useful then of course.
• To mount the holder to your wall I used 4 of the 90° angles which I switched around like shown in the pictures. With that you can screw in 4 (or more if you like) screws into your wall:

• Speed profile 0.2
• Supports from the print bed
• No brim needed
• Textured sheet used
• PLA used
