This is just the gear box it must be connected to a crosslide or another spindle or axis to work.

A separate indexing head on the lathe spindle is  necessary.

There is a second additional rocking arm which is mounted on the front plate which allows to cut

S-Lines around the workpiece. In combination with the W-Lines of the backplate rocking arm it's

possible to cut different diamond patterns while change the direction of the rotation.

 

The gearbox can also be used to cut wooden threads.
