Accessing Parametric customization: Open the .f3d file in fusion360 and click “fx” to change the parameters.
- Measure:
- Backing plate width and height (1mm clearance built into tool)
- Pad Thickness (measure both pads and divide by 2 - MUST BE PRECISE)
- LOOK UP rotor thickness (MUST BE PRECISE)
- Use the rotor thickness when NEW - 1.8mm for most standard rotors (replace rotors if less than 1.5mm)
- Hole height from the top of the backing plate to the middle of the hole (NOT REQUIRED - only if you want to use the locking pin)
Default size: For brakes with a pad back plate size of ~39mm X 17mm
- Made for and tested on my Shimano SLX brakes but should also work for Deore, XT, and some others.
- 1mm clearance built in so final product will be 38mm X 16mm
Rollback or delete the last step in the design history to get the bleed block without the cutout.
Mirror the pad cleaning block (I did it in prusaslicer) or use it upside down to get all 4 pistons.
Recommended Print Settings:
- 3-4 perimeters
- Triangular infiltration with at least 25%
- Ideally use a material that is stiff (no flexibles) and will resist swelling from brake fluid
- I use ASA. Mineral oil and brake cleaner did not seem to bother it. DOT fluid is more likely to be a challenge
