Multiconnect is a generic system to hang things to your wall or any board (like Multiboard or Honeycomb). Those files here should only be used for modeling, allowing you to create any variation of multiconnect you want.

This is version 2 of the multiconnect base modeling files. For version 1 look here.

Improvements compared to v1: With multiconnect version 2 I tried to solve some of the issues I found when using version 1. Also I wanted to incorporate some handling improvements. And you get all this without version 2 breaking compatibility at all, version 2 is is fully compatible with version 1. 🤩

Changes:

  • Modeling files are now organised like modular bricks. Combine the parts you need however it makes the most sense to you.
  • There are some example files to show how you could combine the parts.
  • I removed the dimple in favour of a new snap in mechanism thats holts the connector in place.
  • Snap is is also supported by the rail parts.
  • The quick connect feature was completely redone, now you only need half the height for this to work + you can place a connector in every position.
  • Added support for completely embedded connector backs. This can be useful for example if you want to have the multiconnect details hidden.

Note: Multiconnect v2 still uses a 25x25mm grid as the basis for all the provided files (as it originated as an extension to multiboard). If you want to use it with any other grid please modify the files accordingly. 👍

Thanks for all the feedback I received! Especially to ralusek and BlackjackDuck. Without you those changes would not have happened.

Why use this connector: The connector is universally usable and allows for fast and easy installation and removal of anything you want while still being pretty sturdy. Also the connector will be invisible when something is attached, which leads to a nicer overall look.

Multiconnect can be used with:

See all compatible models using the multiconnect tag here on printables or the multiconnect tag on thangs.

About the connector system: The connector design/dimensions are actually pretty simple. You can look into the provided dimension PDF to create your own models using the same connector. There are also STEP files which includes just the connector head and a bin/shelve back to be used for your own creations. Feel free to just use those.

Howto use: Modeling files are provided in two variants. The normal model files, just containing the original multiconnect system (as connector and connector back). And the negative/cutout files you can use to apply to any model.

Also note that alls files are provided as STL and STEP, so you can easily choose what suits your workflow better.

Please upload your model using the “multiconnect” tag, so they are easily visible to others. Also this page links to this tag on printables and thangs - so you might just get some extra views by using this tag.

Printing instructions: Use at least 3 perimeters and I suggest at least 20% infill. I'm using the grid infill pattern, but others might just be fine. Please don't print in “superfast” mode, use “STRUCTURAL” for Prusa printers for example.

Note however that the models provided here are not intended to be printed directly, but for modeling whatever you need for yourself. 😉
