Carvera USB Camera Mount

This is a USB camera mount for the Makera Carvera. Works with the lid closed an re-uses the back panel USB.

This mount can work with either of the following two cameras:

Instructions:

  • Print:
    • For the ELP camera:
      • camera-top.stl
      • camera-back.stl
    • For the Arducam camera:
      • camera-top-arducam.stl
      • camera-back-arducam.stl
    • arm.stl
    • 2 x cable-holder.stl
      • Use a rigid material like ASA with high infill.
    • wall-hinge.stl
    • floor-bracket.stl
      • Use a rigid material like ASA with high infill.
  • Enclosure the camera using the camera-top/bottom parts:
    • For ELP cameras
      • 4 x M2 14mm machine screws
    • For ArduCam
      • 4 x M2 18mm machine screws
    • Use with 4 x M2 hex nuts
  • Optionally attach a bigger heatsink
    • 20mm x 20mm x 10mm aluminum heatsink
    • Attach with 2mm thick thermal pad
  • Attach the camera to the arm.stl and then attach the other side of the arm to the wall-hinge using:
    • 2 x M3 14mm machine screws
    • 2 x M4 hex nuts.
  • Attach the wall hinge to a 200mm 1515 extrusion:
    • 2 x 5-6mm M3 screws
    • 2 x M3 hex nuts
  • Connect the extrusion to the floor bracket
    • 1 x 6mm-7mm M3 machine screw
    • 1 x M3 hex nut
  • For connecting the floor bracket to the carvera
    • The stock screw is M4 x 6mm (countersunk - length measured from tip to tip)
    • Replace with a M4 x 8mm machine screw
    • Additional hot glue can be used on the back side
    • The cable-holder.stl parts can be used for cable routing along the floor of the carvera.
    • The stock floor screws are M4 x 8mm (countersunk - length measured from tip to tip)
    • Re-use the stock screw (might be a tight fit) or replace with non-counter sunk 10mm screws
  • Cable management
    • The cable from the camera can be routed along the left side of the dust bin and up the side of the side wall and then over the main control board towards the right side of the machine.
    • Then attach a 1ft USB A extension cable.
    • Then plug into a USB hub side as this Anker 4-port hub.
    • Also plug in the control board serial to the hub using a new USB A to C cable.
    • Connect the USB hub to the rear USB-C port using a USB C female to female adapter.
    • You can cut re-use one of the zip-tie holes along the rear top gap in the machine to hold the USB hub in place.
