As already stated this is an (almost) 100% parametric Rugged Box I designed in OnShape.

This design uses satisfying and strong over-center latches. These require set screws to assemble. Alternatively countersunk screws can be used if a chamfer is added to the latch.

Print istuctions:

  • Print all parts in original orientation.
  • The TPU gasket is optional, but recommended.
  • I have found that the integrated support works great on Cura, but slicers that “auto repair” models, like orcaslicer, fuses the support to the model.
  • I use 3 wall lines for better strength.
  • 30% or more infill
  • Support is not required for Box top and bottom

There is a list further down of all the customizable parameters available in OnShape.

STEP files are included for anyone who does not use OnShape, though you won't get acces to as much customization this way.

I will also include some preset sizes as STL-files for people with little CAD experience.

6pcs 30mm long cap head screws and 2pcs 20mm long set screws are required for the STL-files. M3/M4

Feel free to message me to request custom size STLs. I can't guarantee that i will repond, but i will try my best to help. :)

Anyone can view the project, without OnShape account, the assembly tab is useful as “instructions” on how to assemble.

Here is the link to the project in OnShape: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/a5120fc556e5268b870caa28/w/35c0c4f75df1f408f7debe09/e/91f6601b7067066acacba203?renderMode=0&uiState=66e4270b824afd7566a930f1

All OnShape users can access the project and copy it to customize it in any way they like by changing the variables I have incuded. There are some limitations though, but just look out for faults in the design folder and undo the changes, or change other parameters to make it work.

Here is a list of what you can edit with the variables included:

  • Screw size. (only M3 - M4, lenght varies based on the input data)
  • All internal dimensions: Width and depth. Height of bottom and top individually.
  • Wall thickness.
  • Thikness of bottom and top surface.
  • Width of latches and hinges.
  • Distance from the corner of the box to the braces (Latcher and hinges).
  • Brace width.
  • Roundness of the box corners
  • Height of the mating surface lip.
  • A few not as useful options like:
Overhang angle of hinge and latch mount.
Angle of chamfer under mating surface lip

Please leave a like on this post to show your appreciation as this has taken a long time to design and make (almost) 100% customizable.

I am looking forward to seeing any makes and remixes you create!
