This is a compact custom filament sensor version of the legendary Sherpa Mini that includes several improvements.  Please read the differences section compared to the original Sherpa Mini.

This version uses nylon screws and nylon nuts at the bottom of the main housing to attach it to the rear case (although you could use standard screws and M3 nuts).

The main casing MUST be printed with painted supports to support the front cover, as it is all printed in one piece.  This avoids having to have two heatserts and two screws in the front of the case, it also gives space for the location of the D2F switch and its corresponding 5mm ball bearing.

A version of a guilder that uses an MR85 + 5mm is provided in case the user wants to get maximum quality (without the dual gear backlash) from the extruder.  This is best accomplished while using RIDGA v2.

An extended version of the housing with a lower screw to stabilize the Sherpa is provided.

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

  • Includes an ECAS insert
  • Has a D2F + 5mm ball bearing runout / filament detection switch
  • Contains an optional version for a MR85 + 5mm pin smooth bearing section
  • Improved filament path for better pickup when using MMUs
  • Uses nylon nuts and nylon screws for the bottom of the case to reduce weight
  • Avoids using front case heatserts + screws for weight reduction (printed with painted supports instead)
  • Rear and main housing have location pins (if you are unable to fit these together, you are over-extruding and will have to adjust the Extrusion Multiplier)
