When I bought my house, it had American Standard Champion toilets. They flush great. I was happy.
But shortly after moving in, one of them began to leak. You know the drill: Water bill is higher than usual. At night, you can hear the toilet refill for a few seconds. Silence…silence…swish!…silence.
As it happens, these things aren't compatible with your standard big store “Universal Flush Valve replacement” you can buy for a few bucks. The replacement is the entire valve for $30. I wanted to just replace/buy a gasket to solve the problem. But no dice. This thing has a huge non-standard nut. And the only way to get the wrench is to buy that $30 valve kit.
So, after springing for the dough, I fixed my toilet. Then, in a fit of pique, I decided to replicate their wrench and put it on all of the maker sites, so the next time someone just wants the wrench to replace a 25 cent gasket, they can.
My version doesn't flex as much under load as their version. I imagine it'll hold up nicely. And it fits like a glove.
Have calipers, will travel. :D
