This is a case that fits a Heltec T114, a GPS module, a buzzer, a button, and a battery so you can take your Meshtastic node with you everywhere.
- The buzzer is connected to GND and pin 08. It's used to get a beep every time you get a new message.
- The Button is connected to GND and pin 07. It's used for canned messages, even though I have not been able to make it work with the Heltec T114 in “Scan and Select” mode, not even following the instructions in the docs. I'll update this description with the details if I ever manage to make it work.
- The buttons are small, and that's on purpose so you don't accidentally press them.
- The MagSafe magnets I used can be easily found in AliExpress, but it seems like there are two types of them: the ones that go in cases and the ones that go in chargers. Don't make the same mistake I did. I picked up the ones that go in cases, so it sticks very weakly to the back of the phone.
- The antenna sticks out a bit because I measured the signal with a NanoVNA, and having it fully covered makes the SWR levels way worse as the phone is basically a block of metal.
- The graph I plotted in the front represents the “chirps” sent by LoRa for data transmission as you see them in a spectrogram. As you can clearly see I'm far from having any design notions, but I thought it could be a nice reference to LoRa.
- The placement of the components could be improved to fit a bigger battery, but as shown in the pictures, I can fit a 1100mAh LiPo without any issues.
⚠ Disclaimer: This is my first project ever using FreeCAD, and one of only a few I've ever made with 3D CAD software, so if you want to remix this case, a word of warning: Here be dragons.
