Chest

I made this chest to store a small gift in Blackbeard's Compass, which is an escape game - a puzzle in which to hide a gift. The dimensions fit the inside dimensions of the storage compartment of the puzzle.

Printing instructions

1. Print 1 copy of chest-v2-body.3mf using colour A.
2. Print 1 copy of chest-v2-body.3m using colour A and then change to colour B upon the request.

All parts are colour A, but the diamond symbols on the lid and the latch are colour B.

If you are using other software than Pursa Slicer, please split the chest-v2-parts.stl into individual objects. I print the chest body and all parts except the diamond in one batch using one colour. Then I print the chest lid and the latch in two colours. The diamond from the part file should be positioned 5.9mm above the print pad. The colour should be changed at 8.1 mm at the earliest. I use a 0.1 mm layer and a 0.4 mm nozzle.

Assembly instructions

1. Carefully remove all supports. It should be quite easy.
2. Put the left and right joints together. The thicker parts should face each other and the the pins of the thin joints should face into the chest. Use a small amount of glue and slide the joints from the top onto the back of the chest body.
3. Apply a small amount of glue to the side holes on the lid near the back edge. Slide the pins into the holes and allow to dry. The lid should open and close easily. When closed, the lid and body of the chest should be perfectly aligned. If not, use a little more force to push the pins into the correct position.
4. Insert the latch through the hole in the front of the chest. The hook should point upwards. Put a small amount of glue in the hole in the diamond piece. Check that the latch is in the closed position (turned clockwise). Attach the diamond to the latch in a standard position. Allow to dry.
5. To open the latch, rotate the diamond 90 degrees counter-clockwise. Close the lid and turn the diamond 90 degrees clockwise to lock the chest.
