I have browsed and looked at MANY classic chess set. I would like a game with a clean appearance that is easy to decode with good playability. I like the slender Russian pieces with heavy bases. When I came across Botvinnik-Flohr ll sets I knew I had to make my own take on one.

This set is meant for boards with 50mm and 45mm cell size Both will fit on my printable chess board but I do prefer the 45mm version. The set in the cover has been printed in resin on a Prusa SL1s and has later been airbrushed and dry-brushed red and gold.

If you find the pieces too big for your taste, they scale very well.

The STEP versions are included if you need to alter something to be able to print or if you need to scale. Please still respect license.

Printing Tips:

  • Material: PLA Mat PolyTerra or Bambulab.
  • Layer Height: 0.08mm
  • Perimeters: 4
  • Infill: 15% or more
  • Speed: 50% (adjust as needed) Silent mode on Bambulab machines
  • Temperature: 195°C
  • Cooling: 360-degree or sandwiched cooling recommended.
  • Other (Orca Slicer): Enable option “Slow down for curled perimeters”

Note: Printing can be challenging, but with patience and the right settings, you’ll achieve beautiful results. Print cool, print slow, and start with a test piece to ensure success.
