Just a little demo of some things you can do to create otherwise “impossible” prints.

In this case, the cube and ball are printed with no support material, no glue or hardware, and no MMU.

To Recreate:

  1. print and assemble part #1, preferably using a different filament or material from parts #2 and #3
  2. print part #2
  3. slice part #3, adding a pause at 26.2mm
  4. start part #3 printing
  5. when the printer pauses, drop the ball (assembled part #1) inside, set part #2 into the recesses on part #3
  6. resume the print

The next layer of part #3 will fuse to and be supported by, part #2. When complete, the cube will be one contiguous piece with a ball trapped inside.

I think this technique, with a bit of creative anchoring, could be extended to create 90 degree overhangs or possibly even negative overhangs.
