Hi there, here is my design of a piston/connecting rod assembly based on a Subaru EJ20 STI motor. These parts were designed through the Onshape CAD software.

Printing Instructions:

  • 0.12/0.2mm layer height depending on your desired detail.
  • Supports only needed for the wrist pin holes on the lower piston part.
  • Feel free to scale the parts as small as you want, although at 100% size it is roughly the same dimensions as an actual piston assembly.
  • Print orientation should be as shown in the photos.

I would recommend printing the piston and connecting rod split as shown in the photos for the best possible details on both sides. I used superglue/CA glue to join the two parts together afterwards.

Assembly is as follows:

After joining the cut pieces with glue, place one circlip into one side of the piston itself. Then roughly align the holes of the piston/connecting rod and insert the wrist pin between them from the open side. Finally, insert the remaining circlip into the other side.
