Flat pedal back for Peloton bike

Introduction

You can print these pedals and attach them on to your Peloton so that it can be used with or without specialized cycling shoes.

Printing Instructions

I printed these in PLA with a 0.4mm layer height, 3 walls, 25% infill. I preferred to print them upside-down so that I would get a nice texture on the top from the build plate on my Anycubic Vyper.

Fitting Instructions

After printing, three 2.5" screws can optionally be fitted in to the pedals for extra strength. Put two through the two outer holes on the outside of the pedal, and one in the central hole in the inside of the pedal. When you have done both pedals they should look like mirror images of each other.

There is a thin rubber sheet on the back of the Peloton pedals held on with four hex nuts. There should be an allen key in the little bag of tools that came with the Peloton that can remove them.

Remove the hex nuts, and store the rubber sheets somewhere safe (I put mine in the Peloton tool bag). The flats should fit fairly firmly on to the back of the pedals, and can be attatched using the four nuts you just removed.

Notes on the design

This is a complete remake of the ‘Flat Pedal for Peloton Bike’ by pew_pew_banana.

I used the original for a few weeks, but the pedal broke - it did not have enough strength on the side to cope with my entire weight when I mount and dismount the bike.

I used the dimensions from the original STL to create a new design in OnShape. I felt that the grip pattern makes the part weaker, so I removed it in my version. I had some 2.5" screws available, so I holes through the part to screw them in to provide additional strength.  Two screws should be screwed in from the outer side of the pedal, and one from the inner side.

I also added a cutout at the front so that the pedal can still be adjusted without removing the flat.

• The part has been completely redesigned in OnShape.
• The grip pattern from the original was removed.
• Screw holes were added widthwise to accommodate 3 x 2.5" screws in order to strengthen the part. 
• The depth of the pedal was made 2mm deeper for added strength and to leave more room for the strengthening screws.
