Best Y-axis Bearing Holder

Most of us are making bling for the MK3/S. You have a great structural improvement. The factory should take notice. Durability issues, are probably from tightening too much. I used M3x12 cap screws from a local fastener house. My #2 MK3 ran for 4 hours today, smooth as silk.

Hello cncMaker1976! Did you had some Problems with your shorter bolts? I will do it in the same way.. Thank you in advance!

I think it is important not to crank down to hard. There are no side loads as on a milling machine. The bearings just need to held in place. MK3 #1 will be converted soon. If I run into a problem I'll let you know.

I'm glad this worked for you! My only concern is that the 12mm thread length may not provide enough threads to bite into the outside of the strap. I know it looks a little silly on my picture for the 16mm to seemingly hang down "doing nothing". But, I found that they actually did cut threads along a longer length of the outside surface which may help spread the load over more area. This might be more durable over time. Maybe this is what Mikerom commented on. Either way, I'm happy more people are finding these work. Previous to these, I have never had my two i3s running as smoothly.
