Looks very cool and is very educational. I printed in glow in the dark PLA and silk gold. Sadly, soon after the tentacles started breaking off and operation became less smooth.

Thanks for the feedback — nice filament choice!

If the mechanism is working, the gears are definitely assembled correctly. The tentacles are the only parts that can be mixed.

If some of the inner and outer tentacles get swapped, they can occasionally touch each other during movement, which can lead to extra stress and eventually break.

The good news is you only need to reprint the tentacles.

I recently updated the model and added I / O markings on the gears and tentacles to make it much easier to identify which ones go on the inner and outer rings.

Reprinting the tentacles with 3 walls and no infill should also make them significantly stronger.
