Top part might be a bit more difficult, but the backside could be hollowed out more, i.e. with hexagons instead of a solid backwall.

I agree with you that model uses more plastic than I prefer. Thoughts on a solution?
I have the feeling it uses a lot of material, but I really like the easy and modular setup.
I also printed it without any supports and that worked pretty well. There are a few corners that need to be worked on afterwards, but nothing impairing its function.
