@AlwaysKeen My design originally had no clips, either - using only magnets should be OK. I mainly added the clips for a little bit of sideways stability, not so much for holding the part in place. As the remix has a horizontal brace, I guess it's fine without clips.

I appreciate all the work you did. I'm very happy with the result. I thought I'd just share my thoughts and experiences. I attempted a few prints with e-sun abs and my printer didn't like it (Voron V0.2). I prefer using magnets over clips, I thought they'd be strong enough. I haven't heard anything out of the ordinary so far but I'll keep an ear out for rattles.
The fan stand offs are left over the original Sovol design. It is not ideal for FDM printing. Other than using a completely different mounting system. 2 quick fixes are to make the stand off shorter, allowing easier fan insertion and reducing the length the screw has to make contact with the threads. Or make the hole larger and perhaps smoother? after looking at the sliced model there is a thread pattern. A screw should be able to cut it's own thread. The thread pattern could be causing issues when printed. It does not seem to be allowing the M2.5 screw to glide through smoothly. An M2 felt quite smooth though, perhaps too smooth.
Again, I'm very happy with the print, and don't think I'll need to print another. Thanks for your hard work and also @Zappes_1061978
@AlwaysKeen i understand the frustration there. i haven't used any screws currently. friction fit is fine for now. could use whatever size screw that fits and isnt too big.
i say go off of what zapps says in his original post. im just a remixer. the standoffs for the fan are thin and can break easily yes. there's no way around this unfortunately. it has to be that thin to hold the fan, just be careful is all i can say. they are the perfect height, if i make them shorter Youd need a longer screw and deal with the same issue of it being thin and weak. If you're finding it hard to slide the fan in. make sure its lined up well before applying pressure. taking your time goes a long way.
the worst part is you basically cut the clips off and reverted further back than the original model i had. you're reviewing a model that isn't even one of mine. you changed it completely
If there's a reason for this i understand but PLEASE reprint it with the V5 clips, and at least paint on supports for the 4 clips. the clips hold it on snuggly without magnets, no wiggle or rattle. ***Reprint with pla just to try it out, no need to use your expensive abs right now. that abs with glass looks very abrasive. this will obviously contribute to tight fits and harder everything in general. id probably print it in standard ABS or ASA. Printed v5 with no supports. Chopped off clips in slicer for magnet mounting only. Printed in fusrock glass abs. Stand-offs for fan are quite long, a little hard to get the fan in. Screw holes are too small/stand-offs can be made shorter. My stand off broke when I tried to screw the entire length. The original screws appear to be m2.5 x 8mm. Current options. Rely on friction fit, use an M2 screw with a washer, use a shorter m2.5 screw. I'm only using one screw currently (edited)
