ZombiPach's Cyclopes handle model calls for using metal screws/washers/nuts but everyone knows that using non-printed parts is for the timid, so I made some thumb screws/nuts that are sized to fit the holes in the model and Cyclopes lid.

The bolt fits down inside through the hold from the top, through the lid, and then the nut screws onto it from the interior of the Cyclopes. There's a \u201cshoulder\u201d on the bolt part that is designed to fit into the hole in the model where the head of the screw was meant to go when using metal bolts.

Given the intended heating of the inside of the Cyclopes where the nut is, I doubt this would work in PLA, especially on the higher drying temperature settings. I printed it in PETG as it has a little more heat tolerance; if that doesn't work out and I need to use something with more heat resistance I'll come back and edit this post.

When printing I found I needed to use a brim on the bolts (though not the nuts); my first prototype print without a brim came unstuck about halfway through the threaded part at the top of the bolt.

Some other printing notes:

The \u201cbumpy\u201d part of the thumbscrew have a height of 0.6mm, and so can be printed at any of 0.15, 0.2, or 0.3 layer height. Make sure the first layer height of the model is also the same layer height: if you do something like 0.2 bottom layer and 0.3 layer above that then the thumbscrew doesn't print quite as nicely since the model layers won't quite line up with the print layers.
Concentric fill for the bottom/top layers works and looks nice, though isn't required.
I used a perimeter of 3 layers; I don't know if it was necessary but I figure it might make the threads slightly stronger and didn't add much to the print time.
I printed the nut at 0.15 layer height for the entire thing, for more precise threads.
I used variable layer height on the bolt to print at 0.3mm up to the threads, then 0.15mm for the threads at the end of the bolt.

I included the openscad model I wrote for this part, if anyone wants to tweak it. It requires the awesome https://github.com/rcolyer/threads-scad library for the threads.
