Pupils and the teacher discuss ECO-house which represents a topical trend. Each group takes charge of a particular part to focus on. Students try to push their suggestions and implement them.
The focus of the target group
- The target group represented by students of the 3D printing club
- Applying basic skills in TinkerCAD
- Creating and working with physical models in 3D modelling
- Development of: spatial and technical thinking, mathematics and logic, digital literacy
Necessary knowledge and skills
- Geometric figures
- Conversion of units
- Basic user skills in TinkerCAD
- Basic math and logic skills
- Basic computer skills and locating necessary 3D models
- Recognize whether it is advantageous to print on an Original Prusa MK3S+ or Original Prusa Mini printer
Project objectives
- Put basic 3D modelling skills into effect and develop creativity.
- Develop technical, digital literacy and spatial thinking skills.
- Working with different materials.
- Effective retrieval of 3D models.
- Working with different formats.
- Working in groups.
- Working with measurements and modelling to make parts fit.
Required equipment
- TinkerCAD, Thangs, Thingiverse, Printables
- PrusaSlicer
- 3D printer - Original Prusa Mini, Original Prusa i3 MK3s
- Filaments
- Material for paper model creation
- Bandsaw
- Glue for plastics
- Acrylic paints
- Plywood
Project time schedule
- Introduction of the project - 1h
- In the 3D printing club (5h) + voluntary activity
- Glueing and colouring - 5 h
- Printing time for all components - 5,379 minutes (approx. 89 h)
Workflow
- Registration in TinkerCAD platform.
- Familiarization with Thangs, Thingiverse, Printables
- Dividing students into groups (floor plan, garden, interior, roof).
- There was a draft model from which the pupils measured the dimensions and started to create their own models according to them.
- In groups of 2, pupils have the opportunity to develop their own models in accompaniment with those available from the mentioned portals.
- After modelling, the components were printed during several days and after that they were glued or painted.
