Trigon Core: Engineered Modular Storage System

Trigon Core is a scalable workspace organization system designed with a focus on structural rigidity and industrial design aesthetics. Unlike standard pegboards, this system utilizes a 12mm thick profile and hidden internal connection channels.

Design Philosophy & Key Features

The 12mm Profile vs. The Lever Effect

Most 3D-printable organizers are 4-5mm thick. When hanging heavy tools (pliers, wrenches, hammers), a lever effect occurs—hooks start to sag or warp the panel itself. The Trigon Core base block is 12mm thick. This provides a deep seat for any mount. Tools are secured strictly perpendicular to the wall, with zero wobble or sagging.

Hidden Routing (The Tunnel System)

Through-channels measuring 12x4mm are integrated into the grid's partitions. Currently, they are used for invisibly connecting panels together using H-shaped pins. The assembly seams are tight and hidden within the structure itself. In future updates, these tunnels will serve as cable routing channels for electronic modules.

Starter Kit (What's Included)

This publication contains the base "Starter Kit", which provides everything you need to assemble a complete organizer for both a wall and a desktop. The models are optimized for printing on compact printers (Bambu Lab A1 Mini / 180x180 mm format).

  • Base Panels: Cell matrices ready to be seamlessly combined into a single array of any size.

  • Perimeter Frame: Finishing border elements. The frame covers the side joints, gives the array a finished factory look, and provides reinforced points for wall mounting.

  • Desk Stands: Massive L-shaped feet. They allow you to use the assembled panel vertically right on your desktop without the need to drill into walls.

  • Universal Pegs (Hooks): A set of 4 basic mounts of various configurations for hanging hand tools.

3D Printing Guidelines

The system is designed specifically for FDM printing to minimize print time and eliminate failures.

  • Supports: Not required (Support-Free). All internal channels and R2 fillets are calculated to be printed with bridges.

  • Material: The base panels print perfectly in PLA, PETG, or ABS. Connection pins and hooks are highly recommended to be printed in PETG due to its elasticity (ensuring a reliable, durable snap-fit).

  • Texture: Printing face down on a textured PEI plate is strongly recommended. This hides layer lines and gives the panels a premium, matte industrial finish.

  • Infill: 15-20% (Gyroid) for panels. For hooks, 4-6 perimeters (walls) are recommended to maximize breaking strength.

System Evolution (Roadmap)

Trigon Core is published as an evolving ecosystem. The Starter Kit is just the foundation. The following modules are planned for upcoming updates:

  1. Mech-Arm Integration: Specialized adapters for native compatibility with articulated Mech-arm systems.

  2. Trigon Smart (ESP32): Transforming the storage system into a "Smart Wall". An electronic clock and weather station module utilizing a unique 10-segment font embedded directly into the grid's geometry. Wires will be completely hidden within the base 12x4mm tunnels.

Open for the Community (Remix Culture)

This project is published under a license that encourages remixes. The core value of Trigon Core lies in its modularity. I have created a solid foundation (the grid), and I am excited to see what specific mounts, tool holders, and adapters the community will engineer.

Base dimensions for designing your custom modules:

  • Inner cell size: Equilateral triangle with a 25mm side.

  • Seating depth: 12mm.

  • Tunnel window: 12 x 4mm.
