The Chevron Faceplate Returns – Refined & Now Supporting All Drawer Sizes!

The idea behind my GEN2 Decor Series was to bring the modular storage system into the home or office, opening up endless possibilities for customization and style. The Chevron Series has always been special to me because it marked my first step away from the purely industrial look of workshop storage, toward something more elegant and home-friendly. Creating the Chevron Series challenged me to design beyond function alone, to think about how 3D printing could blend into everyday living spaces and feel like part of the home.

As the GEN2 system evolved, my focus shifted toward developing new features and functions beyond drawers alone, and the Chevron design quietly sat on the back burner. Over the past few months, however, I’ve received numerous requests for updates to support the latest drawer sizes. After showcasing the Chevron faceplates at the East Coast 3D Printopia Festival, I saw renewed excitement for the design, so this week, I decided to finally give it the attention it deserves.

What’s New

The Chevron faceplates have been completely recreated from the ground up. While the design maintains its familiar look, the pattern now aligns seamlessly between neighboring drawers, creating a cleaner, more continuous flow. Most importantly, every size variation has been updated to support the latest GEN2 Decor drawers, including the new 4-wide (4W) units!

GEN2 Deco Handle - Self-Tapping

To simplify the installation of handles I've also design a self-tapping version of the Deco Handles and Knobs, this eliminates the need to install M3 hex nuts into the faceplates, simplifying installation.

What’s Next?

Building on the distinctive Chevron pattern, I’m developing a new Faceplate Accent, a separate, interchangeable model that can universally attach to both the EdgeLabel and Classic Pro faceplates. This will allow makers to add a decorative Chevron texture (or future patterns) without needing a dedicated faceplate design. Since the EdgeLabel and Classic Pro series are already popular for their printable labeling system, the Faceplate Accent will make it easier than ever to personalize your drawers with both style and function, no redesigns required.
