


Introduction and Preamble
When I design a kayak, I usually build it at a 1:10 scale in order to get a visual impression of how it looks outside the screen, and, of course, to check certain measurements and volumes. The 1:10 scale provides a much more direct relationship with reality than other scales more commonly used in different areas of design.
The Problem
I needed to be able to carry out checks and measurements inside the kayak. Since I work within what, in this field, is known as the “Greenland” style—which involves low volumes and confined spaces—it is necessary to test whether your foot fits inside or whether you can bend your knees. Therefore, the idea of creating a mannequin at that scale naturally emerged.
The Idea
A fully articulated figure capable of imitating the movements of an experienced and flexible paddler seemed like an excellent solution: sitting inside the kayak, holding the Greenland paddle, and replicating the positions required for different manoeuvres.

Inspiration
More than a decade ago, I developed several concepts based on an updated Greenland aesthetic, which quickly came back to mind. With all of this, I already had a clear direction to follow.

References
After extensive research and evaluation, I finally began studying the well-known Dummy 13 by @soozafone. Its aesthetics and proportions were not suitable for my needs, so I had to reinvent it for my specific purpose.


The first prototype was a failure. However, I went on to merge part of the armour with the skeleton, achieving a functional model. At that exact moment, Carbon 13 was reintroduced by @soozafone. After purchasing the editable files, I began working on a new model based on this latest version.

Development
The first thing I did was adapt it to 1:10 scale, separating the balls of the feet and hands in order to increase the overall size to the correct scale: 18 cm, representing a person 180 cm tall, with a foot size equivalent to 26 cm.
After that, I adjusted the size of the hands.
I then focused on all the parts I was not entirely satisfied with: the shoulders, abdomen, neck, and head. And that is how Mimik 10 came to be.




Technical Section
I am not an expert in 3D printing, but I will try to share the best way to print it based on my experience.
The joints and any parts subject to tension should be printed in PETG with 100% infill. The remaining parts can feasibly be printed in PLA.
In the files I will share, the parts are oriented in what I consider to be the most efficient way, according to my knowledge.

Final Reflection
Although the aim is not to create an anatomically perfect figure, it does meet my needs.
I would therefore like to share it in case it may be useful to any other enthusiast.
And yes, you can print it naked too!
