3DPrintopia 2025!

This past weekend was 3DPrintopia 2025! It's one of the world's largest annual gatherings of 3D printing hobbyists, creators, and companies - and it happens to be a short drive from Lucky 13 home base.

After attending last year's event, I decided this year I'd show up with a display of my own. And when the organizers gave me some prime real estate in the main hall, I knew we had to bring our A game for the community.

We had quite the busy table with all of my designs on display - including some that haven't been released yet. Guests got to play with everything on the table. These are toys, after all! 

Trading MakerChips has become a big part of these events, so of course we had plenty to give away. I still have to sort through all the ones I've collected!

The highlight of the booth was our community art project, Doodle Dummies. Guests were invited to grab some markers and decorate a piece of a super-sized Dummy 13. Of course, they got an extra prize as a thank you for contributing!

By the end of the event we had 8 whole Doodle Dummies assembled - plus the extra huge Doodle Dragon!

It was so fun and so rewarding seeing our community flex their creative muscles. Kids loved to help us decorate the parts, and we got some truly talented artists of all ages contributing to the project.

While the artists were hard at work, others were checking out a sneak preview of my next premium design. I'm hoping to have it in the Printables Store by the end of October - but no promises!

Oh, speaking of which, I need to design this year's Halloween model! The past two years' designs also saw a lot of love at our table (I have now learned the phrase “spider jockey”). What do you think I should make next?

This event couldn't have happened without my awesome team: Vanessa, Greg, and Alex. These are some of my favorite people in the world and they did such an amazing job keeping everything running smoothly - not just this weekend, but in the months of prep beforehand.

…And I especially appreciate them taking over so I could take a break.

Did I mention that 3DPrintopia is one of the best places to see your favorite creators from all over the 3D printing world? I should mention that too.

I did eventually escape my booth to check out some of the other amazing creators on display. With such a jam-packed space it's no wonder this event is moving to the Philadelphia convention center next year.

Of course I had to visit Bearded Printer with his custom life-sized Dummy 13.

And Andrew Rogers took the time to demonstrate some of his 3D printed cameras. I also love his custom chess set designs - despite barely knowing how to play the game myself.

This really was such an overwhelmingly amazing weekend. It's so rewarding to be able to meet people from our 3D printing community and hear firsthand how my work has brought them joy. I can't say a big enough thank you to everyone who has helped make Lucky 13 what it is today. My heart is full.
