Absolutely gorgeous model.
Made these for mom for Easter (which was today). I filled each with candies and chocolates and put them in her basket (I printed our baskets). I used Elegoo Matte PLA in colors Sakura Pink, Ice Blue, and Lavender Purple. I rotated the colors of the connecting rings to give some visual interest when opening them, so they weren't entirely one color. These all had a really cool, fingerprint-like texture of ripples inside each egg half's dome, not present in the original SLA file. I found the original connectors to be too tight. I couldn't screw them in at all. I'm wondering if they were designed with 0 relief. I find a 0.2mm relief with screw-together things to be decent. Anyway, I was able to shrink the length and width to 99.5% in PrusaSlicer, keeping the height 100%, and that made it work pretty well.
The other problem, though was that there's no positive stop to the connector rings. I'd like to see them screw in to a final bump, registering the patterns together. I used a complicated method of screwing the connector into the bottom to where the threads changed (visually), then using blue painters tape to tape the ring to the bottom of the egg inside, screwing on the top, noting how far off the patterns were between top and bottom, then unscrewing, peeling up the tape, rotating how much I think it needed, pressing the tape firmly back down, repeating, and then, when I finally got a nice, tight fit, that lined up the patterns, marking inside the bottom with a sharpie where the seam in the connector lined up, so I could then unscrew the connector, add some thick CA glue around the bottom threads, then screw the connector back in, lining up the dot with the seam again, and then waiting hours for it to finally dry. This worked, but was an awful lot of extra work. If you use superglue to affix the connectors, give yourself several days with them drying with the tops off, because the off-gassing is really noxious. I actually put them in my Sunlu dryer for 30 minutes today to try to air them out before gifting, but they still reeked when opened after being closed for a while - enough to make my nose and eyes burn when opening them.
Other than the noted issues, I think these are really pretty. They came out really nicely, and mom loved them, so mission accomplished!
@matemaciek Looks great, glad you like it!
@voidbubble I have a lot of sentiment for Julia sets (-:
