too small for 3kg spool of esun (edited)
@_1162854 Sorry to hear, I should have clarified in the description this was designed for a RepRapper 3kg spool.
This didn't fit my overture brand spool but I was able to remix and create a spool holder that fit the base here. Appreciate the original design!
could you post the stl for it? i am having the same issues - on bigger rols the reason why you would print this is if you have carboard roll, so the axle shouuld be supporting the roll and not the sides of the spool. thanks..
I have pulled all of the components into TinkerCAD, and "assembled" them together. I added in a couple stepper motor models as well. You can see that the azimuth stepper motor while located at the furthest extent has it's shaft too close to the ring gear to allow the spur gear to be installed.
It looks like the solution is to extend the body length to allow for the stepper motor to be mounted further from the center of rotation.
I always welcome any critiques or advise, and since I am brand new into 3D printing, it is very likely that I am missing something, or making some incorrect assumptions. This is by far the largest and most complex 3D print I have made thus far.
I just had another look at the video and can see that the back of the main body has been cut out to allow the stepper motor to be moved further away from the center of rotation.
Also the ring gear vertical clearance from the base is much larger than the posted stl file. This provides the clearance necessary for the tilt bracket to be able to rotate without interference with the base plate.
If you are going to print this model, be aware of these issues. (edited)
@VE6SRV_2542774 Thank you for the comments. It looks like I uploaded some older versions of the design on accident. I don't have the original files anymore so I will archive this design.
