This is an awesome model! The slimmed down handles were exactly what it needed, and it printed beautifully. I used Bambu Labs PLA CF in Jeans Blue and Lava Grey filament. I also used Ironing Top Surfaces, which gave the handles and all the moving surfaces a smooth finish.
This model does not need any supports, it was designed to print without them and does a fantastic job of it. Don't forget to break the little tab on the blade holder out or the blade wont slide in. It's there to eliminate the need for support on that part.
A better fit was achieved using shorter cap screws.
M3, 14mm x 3 for spacer and blade lock
M3, 12mm x 1 for blade holder
Add 4 more washers on the cap head side of the handle so the screws are flush on the nut side. Otherwise, the threads stuck out very slightly and had a noticeable edge when gripping the knife.
M3, 4mm x 2 Pan head screws for the blade itself, gave it a lower profile face.
Update 1: I used a bit of Molybdenum grease on the face of the blade lock and blade holder, where the washers sit. Also, on the face of the lock and holder where they interface during rotation and it's a much smoother mechanism now.
Update 2: Place a drop of blue thread lock on the screw ends when you install the nuts to keep them from loosening. Adjust the torque so they are as tight as they will go, while still allowing for easy operation. (edited)
@Crabnabit Thank you! I will edit the Screw sizes in the description!
@gjoerk_2439940 Added a couple more updates as I refined the assembly of the knife. Thanks again for the great work!
Awesome light weight knife, makes for a good fidget toy too being able to spin it around.
this will likely start going backpacking with me! (edited)
