This week I've added two new human models, myconids and a ravenfolk/kenku wizard! Also I completely remodelled and republished my elf collection and published makes of minotaurs / frogfolk to use as cover photos for those collections.

I think for any AI models creators should absolutely be printing their work to show it as opposed to posting renders and I've been working to implement this as a part of my routines. It slows things down and the amount of minis I have is piling up but it proves out that these models can be printed and it shows extra leg work.

Should ALL models that use AI (or look they use AI) have to print their models? Thoughts on the poll below.

Love it, were the supports easy to remove? Keep me posted when you paint it!

@adamnant_1815442 yes, didnt have troubles at all. i used only light supports on ~ 45 degrees model position.

Warforged prints at 0.08mm - I honestly wasn't too happy with the sculpting work I did on these. This was an interesting change from my regular work where I've been really focused on faces and getting details in place - these guys don't really have faces so I wasn't sure how they'd turn out. Overall I'm really really happy with the print results. Again, looking at the models I wasn't happy but the physical miniatures make me really happy. Each has so much character and my head is spinning with backstories for each despite no facial features...
I made a little mistake with the normal version of the warforged cleric and bent his little measuring device but nothing glue won't fix.

Stop uploading AI junk. Its spamming out good models.

@Sjones_1020184 thanks for your feedback. AI is very controversial especially in art.

I'm using AI but I'm also sculpting everything and optimizing for 3d printing before publishing. While some of my earlier stuff is definitely rough around the edges it's moreso my inexperience with sculpting than the potential of the models and technology. The video on my Patreon is 3 minutes but the original is almost an hour long. I'm working to improve my skillset.

I recently redid my "human collection" and removed all the AI source images based on feedback from the printables team (although I like the images as they can help as a reference for painting). I want to redo my elf collection but I'm still trying to get better at sculpting faces so that's offline for now.

What I would really like to see on printables is a way for models to be tagged as AI generated like thingiverse has then people can "opt out" of AI models if they don't like them. For now I try to make it apparent that that's what I'm doing and to show the process / best practices.

Dwarf Wizard - The staff is thin printing him upright so other orientations might be needed or to thicken up the staff.

Chonky and regular variants of the dwarf artificers - I sliced the hand off of the normal one by accident while removing supports (luckily didn't cut my hand this time!) - I would print without the baseplate so that it's easier to remove the supports from behind them (but not necessary as most of that is hidden). This definitely makes me think that the space behind capes should always be sealed up (or capes removed from models).

Chonky and regular versions of the Warriors here. The female model is definitely tricky to clean up due to her spiked mace. My plan is to glue it back on but in a future iteration it might be better to thicken it up - should be fine for resin. The male's hammer would have been fine but I messed it up - again another clean cut so I can glue it back.

Overall I would print these without the baseplate for better cleanup but they still turned out ok! (edited)

I printed these a while ago - wizard harengon upright and was careless removing supports on both and lost their held items - the held items are pretty thin even for 0.08mm but printing on their backs and being careful could have produced better results.

The nice part of FDM is that I was able to heat up the ears on the cleric model and bend them out a bit - kind of a fun way to add variety on these models.

Removing supports is kind of tricky (esp with the gaps behind his head). I'm going to set aside from time to re-sculpt and publish again with a more optimized version. I've also learnt a lot more about sculpting and want to make a Strahd we can all REALLY be proud and excited about!

Printed at 0.08mm on their backs. The Rev2 version's spike weapon snapped while removing supports but it should be easy to glue back in place. I've since revised the female paladin to fill in more gaps but otherwise her sword etc... printed out nicely!

Druid and Paladin models are here too. I've since revised the Paladin model to fill in the gaps a bit more as her feet did not survive the print and supports would be a pain to clean out under her cape.

Human rogue female printed on her back and the sword didn't generate 100%Human cleric/paladin female was printed on her back - supports are tricky here and I sliced through her staff - glue can definitely fix this.

I may need to make "chonkier versions" (see dwarf collection) for better FDM print quality but otherwise I'm happy with these. Resin should be nice and I'm excited to see the weather turn so I can turn it out! (edited)

Pretty happy with these new models! Using a 0.2mm nozzle and 100% infill is noticeably better for these!

Makes of artificer3, monk_female1, monk1 and druid3 with a 0.2mm nozzle and 100% infill. I printed with the baseplates on to show that it can be done but I would recommend printing without so that support cleanup is easier. There are some fiddly bits under skirts. The 0.2mm nozzle is REALLY nice and I'm really happy with these overall. Watch out for the tail on monk1 as it can be easier snipped off while removing supports - I had to glue it back on.

great modell

Printed on their backs for best support and cleanup but it might be worth experimenting with other positions!

Hobgoblin sage at 0.08mm and 0.2mm with a 0.4mm nozzle as well as a side by side. Resin would be better - I'd like to try with 0.2mm nozzle to see if there details are better.

Assorted giant spiders at 0.08mm and 0.2mm - failed prints I used a heat gun to ball up and turn into "Dead giant spiders"

Added the giant_spider1 revisions here too - the chonky version is a bit lower to the ground, less sharp. I'm prepping for a spider encounter so thinking over these and statblocks. (edited)
