Hi there! I am curious if you know of a way with this drone to cause the home point to update with the RC's position. The first time I tried doing this (I was having the drone follow my car) when the low battery alert came on it began to fly home toward the start location, which is obviously no bueno. If this is not possible yet to configure it to auto-update the RTH location to the RC current position, then we should make loud noises on the DJI forums so they can eventually add that feature for us.

@TipTop You are right, of course. Thanks for sharing your experience and I hope to go cycling and flying soon once it cools down! Yes I found that as long as you pre-load the RC (by phone tethering for example) with maps, it helps it give a proper GPS fix on the RC’s own location. This can be pretty useful!

Yeah, realistically we will have close control of the drone at all times. However, I am sure you would agree with me that it would be ideal and potentially a whole different experience if we can tell the system to treat the RC position as home. That way we would be able to leave the drone in activetrack and not worry about occlusions causing the track to be lost, we would be able to e.g. keep driving and forget about the drone in the air until RC beeps due to loss of signal or low battery, and it should fly closer to our vehicle hopefully reconnecting.

This reminds me too, ideal behavior probably goes beyond just treating RC as home position, I think it needs to actually be a different behavior: where once vision tracking is lost, the drone should immediately use GPS to follow the RC. This would have a good possibility of positioning to re-acquire the track, and it should automatically do that as well.

@slu_267998 I totally agree with you. What you're describing would be the perfect solution. As said, I am not sure if the RC actually contains an integrated GPS receiver which would be required for DJI to implement such a functionality. If not, I guess it was intentional to being able to sell a RC2 and a Mini 4 Pro... 🤣
Best greets!

I'm going to design one of these for my RC2. All of the metal ones I see online only mount to the bottom screws or the back screws, but not both. I am also a mountain biker and don't think those mounting positions alone will hold while riding anything other than pavement. I'm curious what issues you faced that caused you to put the brackets that wrap around the top of the controller? (edited)

@allg33k_585494 Thank you very much for your design. Since I do not have the RC2, I cannot test it. However, I just added a link to your design within my description so that other users can find it more easily. I hope you're ok with that!

@TipTop Yeah, totally. It's been awhile since I messed with it. I can't remember if there was anything I wanted to change either. LOL! I remember when I used it I was concerned about it being too much pressure on the gopro mount. But I haven't been using it in that fashion because the weather is crappy here right now. We'll see what happens!
