@afschuld Awesome! If I could help one person with this, it was worth uploading. Happy shooting!
A big thank you!, I uploaded your fcstd file to Treatstock.com, and chose "DNC 3D Printing" to make it, and they made it in less than 12 hours, and sent me these images of the final product. I chose Black PTEG with 100% infill.
Update: the part arrived, its works flawlessly, thank you, I posted image with over 4 pounds of camera/lens attached and its level! (edited)
@EddieL_2517710 Superb! I have made multiple photo gadgets and often do videos about them, but I never really know how well it works for people who do not own a 3D printer--you are the first to show me a model printed online.
By the way, I realized today that I need to design a new version that will hold the camera facing forward, in normal fashion, so I can use it as a simple and stable tabletop tripod when I am filming video. That will beat the pants off of the GorillaPod I currently use. I'll upload that one as soon as I get the kinks worked out.
@TadTadd that's great, would love to see that. Also if all possible if you can help me design this same part but with extensions on each side to hold smallrig cold shoe lights for macro photography
Thanks for sharing the FreeCAD file and thank you for making it parametric.
FYI, it looks like there might be more than one backplate out there. I have the UVC-G4 Doorbell Pro-US model and the backplate holes don't line up. They're farther apart (maybe 3.5") on the backplate I have. Fortunately, I can easily adjust the FreeCAD file and reprint. But, I wanted to let others know they should double-check the backplate holes before printing.
This was exactly what I was looking for! Saved me the effort of making one myself and introduced me to Freecad. I knocked the mount_high_side down to 33mm and had a sawtooth_w value of 102.3mm. Also added two other holes to match the previous holes in the siding and printed the whole thing in PAHT-CF. Also printed it on the side with organic supports - no issues! (edited)
@trv_1079 Glad to have been of help. It's cool that you were able to make the necessary changes to fit your home.
can you send the step/f3d file i would like to mod this to has a lid and holder for the adjustment tool thanks
Unfortunately this one was one of my OpenSCAD doings, so no FreeCAD source files
