I loved science at school and won a book prize when I was about 15 and bought a book by J E Gordon titled "The new science of strong materials (or why you don't fall through the floor)". I read it over and over and decided I wanted to study Materials Science at university, which I did, graduated and worked in the plastics industry for about 7 years before moving to IT in banking. Retired now and took up 3D printing as a hobby, learned Fusion 360 and have designed, made and sold some specialist models.
