Hi Rhiz, great design and do you have instructions for using the E3D hotend?

@BigDizz_2812986 https://www.printables.com/model/1113162-qidi-plus-4-adaptor-for-bambu-heatsinks

The Qidi stock nozzle heater is rated for 80w, but some others have confirmed that in reality it only pulls 45 or so watts. This may be causing problems on the front board that the hotend plugs into, so I recommend using a 60 watt heater cartridge or lower.

I've been looking for a HEPA/carbon filter that attaches outside a riser, and this fits the bill! Which HEPA filter does this take and how is it installed? How are the 4020 blowers installed? Thanks!

I can take a look at it, I did provide the step files, so adjustments are easy to make after a couple of youtube videos on fusion360 which is free for personal use.

doesn't fit with the handles on. I wish you would've stated that in the description so I didn't have to waste filament on this.

Fits but pretty annoying to have to take off handles because you might lose them. Not to mention you'll have to put them back on to move the printer (edited)

Hi, thanks for taking the time to create this, but spilting it in orcaslicer doesn't work as it breaks into 29 parts making impossible to move or print. Could you kindly create one where it's spilt properly? Cheers.

@yukaz_183091 sure I’ll do that when I have a moment in the next day or two

So I'm taking a crack at this, and while the first print didn't go perfectly, it went well enough to pick up on a few problems.

First problem: the surface under the fan has an *extremely* thin connection at the bend to the faceplate. (See picture.) I just barely breathed on it, and it broke. The other side is fine; it's thicker, and has the magnet holder to reinforce the corner. Printing the faceplate on it's side would help, but I'd probably thicken that bend up a bit.

(I'm printing a one-piece faceplate+sides cover, to see how that works out; if it can actually slip on and off unobstructed, that'll end up being a more stable version, but I have a suspicion it might get hung up.)

Second problem: the left-side toolhead interface in @stew675_2525901's version (attached photo) is stepped, with keyhole locators on both the front and rear steps. This version (attached photo) is flat, so the locator pin on the step closest to the toolhead doesn't touch the keyhole at all. (Your version also eliminates the outside locating lip that stew's version has.)

When I first looked at it, I assumed the interface differences between your version and theirs were because of offsets needed for repositioning the fan, but now that I have a physical version in my hands, I'm not sure this... actually fits? (I haven't tried test-fitting my first print, it had enough other problems that the result wouldn't tell me much.) Have you actually printed and test-fit this model yet?

Anyway, long-winded comment, but man, I'm so glad you made this! I'm currently using @Kameo's 4020 toolhead cover, and didn't want to give up the larger fan and cover just to mount the beacon. I was about to remix stew's version into a half-baked version that could hold a 4020 fan and go coverless, so this saves a bunch of prototyping and honestly looks a lot better than anything I would have slapped together. 😉

@__esm__ What filament is the blue filament you used for your tool head parts?

Thank you for the model. Beta v2 worked good enough already, after some issues with fan clearance at first. But found it suboptimal, that i can't see the LED on the beacon. Would it be somehow possible to display the LED status in mainsail/fluidd?

@spolack_3032378 TBH i didn't even know it had an LED what does the LED indicate?

I finally got the time to go back and fix up the original design. You might like to check it out :)

@stew675_2525901 oh sweet! That’s nice when I have time I’ll update this one and just keep the noizie mouth to work with yours

Really nice design. I did have to cut off the bottom because the HEPA filter didn’t fit, but that’s not your fault. That’s my fault for not reading all of the details before I printed it.

This is five stars because I've figured out how to modify your remix into something useful for me. First off, please ignore my Fiberon PA6-GF print pictured (wanted to give it a go). I printed this in my Bambu P1S with a 0.6mm nozzle. Believe it or not it's tuned in, just with too thick of layers, this isn't the model's fault; everything is dimensionally accurate and it fit without the filter. I was worried about clogs. Print in a 0.4mm. My second attempt with my remix was done in Inland Polycarbonate on a 0.4mm.

I ordered the same filters you have linked and they do NOT fit into the filter cut hole. I don't think this is your fault... I think there may be slight variations in size from the manufacturer/amazon supplier. With a couple cuts in the model, I was able to remove that filter addition and press fit my hepa filter into place (I thought about gluing it to the polycarb but decided not to. I'll edit my remix if I notice smells afterwards). I'm gonna post a remix for anyone else who runs into this issue, but you've been a great help. Thanks for the remix.

If your filter doesn't fit, I have a remix published.

@Zeke_222861 i added a link to your remix for those experiencing fitment issues.

It is not possible to install the part according to the first point due to the stiffener on the back panel. Or am I doing something wrong?

I loosened the back wall and installed it, but now the bottom belt is rubbing

I printed it in PCTG.
Hard to install, if i print it again i will reduce the size a smal amount.

That’s a nice blue, I like it. What parts exactly need to be smaller? When it was open for beta testing I barely received any comments.

@Rhiz0matics_2506753

Ok, I'll try as best I can from memory. I don't want to remove it again. The overall height, the plastic at the bottom of the Qidi is already bending quite a bit.
On the left it has a very small amount of contact with the slide, but that doesn't bother me too much, it doesn't really seem to drag.

On the right-hand side, I cut the part to the rear so that I could install it.

It's my first roll of PCTG, I'm quite taken with it, the touch and texture is also really nice.

But thanks for the model, it really closes the back completely and I won't get any more airflow from the 120mm fan on the mainboard. I previously had a TPU profile inside, but it wasn't perfect. Perhaps the steppers will now also benefit from this. (edited)

If I just wanted to swap over to a standard Bambu hotend for more nozzle options, would this model allow that?

Anything to be aware of like z height, etc?

@PaulMourer_2841132 as far as figment it’ll work but the heater and thermocouple will need to modified. I’m not sure if Bambu uses a p type or k type thermocouple. But you’ll definitely need to recrimp the right connectors

Complete noob here, well noob to 3d printers but not new to modding electrical and whatnot. Can you specify what exact hotend you got and heater as well? I would be very interested in that info! I'm not a fan of the Plus4 hotend, already had two fail. Thank you!

@Rhiz0matics_2506753 print orientation as vertical standing on one side as in the last picture?

@camelCaseOnly_275138 whatever works or you, use supports, I use tree hybrid.

Printed very easily in Polymaker ASA. Used a brim and the orientation shown. Didn’t require much support.
