Really like the model! I did make a few tweaks of my own to improve printing, material efficiency. I flattened the bottom of the inside pot between the ribs and I made the bottom thinner. In my experience is that infill and overhangs over infill are the hardest places to get watertight, so by removing those features from the model it's almost guaranteed watertight. I also modified the grid with a modifier mesh so i can choose the grid pattern and density based on your seeds or preferences. I'll post a remix with the full 3mf file. (edited)
Very detailed and well designed model. The rules to play the game look simple and easy to follow.
I don't have a MMU / Multi Media Unit, so just changed colour at layer height, so the results aren't as aesthetic but good enough. I used the Prusa XL project file to copy out the exact same printer settings and everything has printed perfectly.
I haven't played yet, if it's as good as it looks then I'll reprint the blue board to match the other.
Going to play test this with some friends and coworkers. Will see how it does. Need to figure out a case/transportation solution.
Medium board size.
Had some pillowing and one part failed and I determined it to be a bug in PrusaSlicer with how it handles multi-color and made a ticket for that.
Only real issue I had (post print) is that the pressing the center piece into the ball snapped the small clips and I had to glue them together. That may be because it wasn't a pure PLA (it had fillers, and those don't flex as much) (edited)
Absolutely love this. This is the medium-sized version using MIKA3D Silk PLA Gold and Bambu PLA-CF. I can't wait to give it to a friend this Christmas!
Can this be scaled down to 10inch width at top of outer white? I have successfully used PLA for planters. Can this be printed in PLA? Can epoxy be used instead of all the screws?
@MountainMaker_396058 Scaling down the model to 254mm will also scale down the holes for the inserts and screws. So, I think that’s no good idea. Yet, depending on your Fusion skill level, you can adjust the design files to get the size you want. For a drastic change like this, it will require more than just a few parameter changes.
Using PLA for printing the Pot, especially the shell, is possible. As PLA gets brittle over time, you might want to coat the bottom half of the inner container with polyurethane.
I do not recommend using epoxy to glue the pot instead of screws, as the design has intentionally no alignment grooves to allow fine adjustments. I see no way to glue the parts, perfectly aligned without some screws holding the (maybe slightly warped) parts in place.
I printed just front of the frame as we planned to hang it on wall anyway. I used print file attached with color change. Prints good and looks nice on the wall.
