I'm experimenting with Self-Tapping M3 holes. So far with great success. What are your thoughts? Do you prefer this idea over using an M3 nut? Should I release a file for you try it out for yourself?

Yes, it's a sensible simplification given the low stress area of the parts.

My opinion is never over design if not required. Structural under stress would need nuts, but if it's to only prevent a piece from sliding, friction fit holes are sufficient. I have already modified your drawer plates without the M3 nut. I would say there is no need for M3 nuts on your frames.

I think the details page has a copy/paste error - says it supports MINI drawers while it _probably_ should say MEDIUM :)

@mbravo_111487 great catch 👍 fixed it now. Thank you

Good morning and happy weekend everyone, I just released a corrected version of the GEN2 QuickLock (V1.11). If you've downloaded any of my latest models (Including RETRO GameStack models) and experience the QuickLocks feeling too snug or difficult to install, V1.1 was likely the culprit and I encourage you to try V1.11.

V1.11 also is slightly adjusted in height to make it easier to release. slight deformities around the sharp corner sometimes cause the mechanism to sit slightly higher than intended and this corrects for that.

I appreciate those who helped provide feedback for this improvement 👍

You can find all the QuickLock here:
https://www.printables.com/model/1012796-gen2-hardware

I haven't had a chance to go over the purpose of the Bi-Directional QuickLock in a video yet so now's a good time to cover that as well. If you have a drawer that is shorter in length and you would like to install it under a longer drawer or longer rails (example: MEDIUM drawer under STANDARD drawer) the Di-Directional QuickLock prevents the shorter drawer from sliding back further. For this QuickLock you have to pull it down while sliding it to help lock it in place.

Thank you again for all your support on the advancement of this project. I'm super excited for 2025!

Thank you, that's great feedback 👍. I'm trying to make it easier for people just discovering the project, it can be challenging for me because I know the complete project lol, so it's good to hear that and easy to fix.

Hey Jerrari!!! I love using the https://www.jerrari3d.com/ site to find what I want to print. Just a convenience thing, but the decor drawers don't include the case files to go with them. IMHO, there should be a case 'area' like there's a rail area. Love the new bi-directional quick locks!

The Gen2 Table Top Kit V2 has been a huge success! But In response I've received a lot of questions from everyone just discovering the project. To help with this I revamped my webpage to include more direction into starting the project.

If you're interested in getting started please take a look, you may discover something new. If you have any feedback or suggestions on the page layout or might know how I can improve directions, please let me know.

If you haven't checked out the new GEN2 Table Top Kit V2 for STANDARD length drawers released this week I highly recommend checking it out. More sizes are to come very soon 👍

@Jagermeister_2725245 That's great feedback and makes perfect sense. I'm going to add the exact slim single drawer I used in the video as well as QuickLocks as a starting point, and I'll see if I can make it more clear where to get more drawers and parts. Thank you 👍

Oh I just found the gen2 hardware page! Maybe just link to that in the text under the tabletop video on the website! Thanks so much by the way incredible work. I’ll be subscribing for those decor drawers after my practice print here!
Here is the link I mentioned above.

Had an idea to make a caddy for my wife’s crochet stuff… did a little manipulation of the top and came out with a very nice piece. Love the designs and flexibility of this model.

Modified the cover to include a 2x4 Gridfinity base, a large area to hold loose pieces while working and a carry handle. Had to widen it overall just a smidge to fit everything… added some slight angles under the extensions, fit the overall look well. The handle M3x35mm screws go through the cover upper and lower pieces, with 4 M3 nuts in the lower pieces center rail. The blue bits in the handle are TPU inserts to cover the screw heads.
The Deco drawer plates have “crochet” animals that I found on here and MakerWorld, split in Bambu Studio and sized appropriately… then printed with dynamic layer height to get the detail.
The Deco drawer handles I found regular cabinet handles on Printables, resized and added the M3 nut slot/hole. Then offset for the top 2 single width drawers. Printed at 0.16mm to get detail.

Filaments are…
Eryone Matte Watercolor Rainbow PLA; cases, crochet animals, cover inset areas
Overture Matte Black PLA (which has crap bed adhesion… hate it.); cover, foot rail, Deco drawer plates, handles
Eryone Black PETG; drawer interiors
Polymaker Blue TPU; feet, handle inserts

This is fantastic!!! Great work 👍

Great project! Case and drawers printed in PETG, custom faceplates and handles in PLA.

@JamesThePrinter James this is so cool! 😎 I love how the faceplates blend together like that. Thank you for sharing 👍

I reworked most of the new Jerrari3D website. Please check it out! You never know, you might discover something new you didn't know existed.

https://www.jerrari3d.com/home

It's really helping me organize my digital files in one place... I guess I mostly design things for organization anyway. 🤣

@Mysha ooh good catch. Thank you for pointing that out. Those are blank links and they are hard for me to catch and correct visually, so I appreciate it. That model is available here on Printables but I'm working hard to get all those links functional

@Jerrari I prefer Printables 😏
I don't even know much about the MakerWorld portal, but I was "interested" in the strange link. I was happy to help 😉

After half a decade on Printables I finally achieved the "Designer 6" achievement. This goal felt unachievable for years, but each year I've felt my speed increase, my process improve. I'm even using the skills I've learned at my day job now. I've never had a hobby pull me in this much to dedicate so much time into something, but I love every second of it, and I have no plans of slowing down any time soon :)
